This summer has been a season of connection, innovation and celebration for the farming community on the Isle of Wight. From Groundswell to Warren Farm and the 124th  Royal Isle of Wight County Show, Farm Wight has been at the heart of it all.

Groundswell 2025 offered a rich tapestry of ideas, challenges and opportunities for the agricultural sector. It was inspiring to see so many familiar Island faces engaging with regenerative practices and future-focused farming.

Closer to home, Warren Farm hosted the IOW NFU summer farm walk and social. James and Becca’s forward-thinking approach—introducing herbal leys, switching to Sussex cattle and Hebridean sheep and launching a micro dairy—showcases the resilience and adaptability of Island farming. Their honesty shop and local milk supply are a testament to community-driven agriculture.

The Royal Isle of Wight County Show was another highlight, with the NFU proudly sponsoring the livestock area. It was a joy to present trophies to the next generation of farmers and engage in meaningful conversations with MP Richard Quigley about the future of farming, education and business on the Island.

As we head into the summer recess, we’re preparing to welcome both Island MPs on-farm ahead of Back British Farming Day on 10 September. Let’s keep the momentum going.
